"See you on Facebook!"

This was the last thing I said to a group of about 15 Pakistani communications specialists today, after I spoke with them about journalism in the United States, rules and traditions around public access, and how journalists like Nick Kristof are using social media, both to crowdsource stories, and to build audience.

It was a pleasure to meet these folks and talk about the huge hurdles both our countries are facing these days. Five women were in the group, and we posed for pictures together, which they promised to send me on Facebook.

Ten years ago it would have been difficult, if not impossible, to keep in touch after a meeting like this.

Not anymore.
