Why you should read the want ads even if you're not looking for a job

It's a good idea to check into sites like journalismjobs.com once in awhile to see what employers are looking for. Here's an example from today's listings. CNN is looking for interns to work in Atlanta.

Are you ready for an opportunity like this, with the skills they're looking for?

CNN.com/feature sections is responsible for both breaking news and enterprise stories for CNN.com. It covers the sections and topics of U.S., Crime, Tech, Showbiz, Travel and Living news. The intern will train with the sections supervisor and the six section editors, as well as the rest of the newsroom including iReport and associate producers.

The intern will learn to provide support for the section editors on both breaking news and enterprise reporting. This will include exposure to a wide variety of opportunities from helping editors work on the big story of the day to tracking down photos and videos for features.

Please visit www.turnerjobs.com for more information. The jobe code for this position is 114904BR.

This intern must have significant print experience either in the form of college newspaper experience, internships, or both. He or she must be able to generate interesting story ideas and be able to recognize news within each of the section topics. We are looking for a team player who wants to jump into the mix. Flexibility and a good sense of humor are much-appreciated traits.
