Right about now, the graduating seniors start coming into my office in search of help finding a job.
Some students have done all the right things: taken a good range of acadmic courses, got involved in leadership positions in campus media, done internships--at least two--at good places and received good references from their employers, who they continue to be in contact with.
But others have been operating on the idea that their college degree alone is going to get them a job.
They're in for a rude awakening.
Don't let this happen to you! Take the Journalism Launchpad course 497G, a five-session, one-credit workshop that will help you develop a resume, hone your interviewing skills, think about money and time management, and just generally step up your "real world" game. It will meet in two, five-week sections, on Wednesdays, 4-5:30 p.m.
Don't fail to launch! Take the Journalism Launchpad class in spring 2009. Open to sophmores, juniors and seniors.
